Another year has passed for the boys’ high school basketball team with the boys getting second in their season.

The Warriors ended the season 14 -10 earning a spot in playoffs. “Overall we did okay,” says guard Abi Cadenas.

“We did not play that well in the beginning of the season, but we played more like a team from the middle to the end,” says center Jonny Lopez.

Coach Joel Simonds says that if the guys were to make their free throws, we could have won some of the games we lost. Max Ruiz, guard, says, “We could have done better.”

Going to playoffs is a great achievement. “We have a good future ahead of us,” says Coach Simonds.

Coach Simonds’s best memory was, “Abi’s buzzer beater; it was the first game back, and he made the buzzer beater that won the game.”

“It’s tough that we are short handed, but we got the right people on the team,” says Coach Simonds about only having seven players. He is confident that all of the players put forth their best effort.

To improve their games Coach Simonds says, “We got to be better on starting out early,” in the beginning of the game, that is.

The CIF first playoff game was against San Jacinto Valley Academy whom the Bethel Warriors beat. The next game was against Valley Christian Lions, but unfortunately the Warriors lost.

It was a good season, and with the experience gained this season, the Warriors will definitely have a lot to offer next year.
