Bethel Plays for the Cure

Bethel hosted two games supporting the fight against cancer on Jan. 9. This was Bethel’s first sports event to raise money for a charitable foundation.

During this “PINK game,” Bethel strived to raise at least $200 to donate to the Susan G. Komen Foundation and the Jimmy V. Foundation. They fortunately exceeded their expectations.

For every $5 that was donated, contributers received items such as: pins, booklets, hair brushes and a variety of bread loaves.

The two varsity teams received special uniforms and gear for the cause. The girls wore pink uniforms, and the boys wore pink headbands and wristbands.

The cause and the fans spurred the teams on to victory against Crystal Cathedral.

The Lady Warriors came out hard and won the game 44-30. The boys also gave the game their all, winning 63-34.

Bethel will be hosting two more PINK games on Jan. 23 and Feb. 6.
