Junior High Girls’ Volleyball Gains Experience
By n.jenkins • Feb 25th, 2009 • Category: SportsThe junior high girl’s volleyball team won their final game on Friday winning match one 25-22, and match three 15-13.
The girls finished the season with 2 wins and 5 losses and were one game away from making it to playoffs
Although the girls have faced some difficult times this season with several losses as well as the loss of players, the team has continued on and has shown that they can still represent Bethel well.
They proved to be strong competition in each of their games and have shown that they do have what it takes to be a winning team.
Marissa Thomas, eighth grade, has played on the junior varsity team for three years. She said, “There is a lot of room for improvement.” She also stated that many of the younger girls could do better if they just tried harder. Returning player Ally Simmons, seventh grade, said, “I am proud of the team and the fact that they really worked hard.”
Like many of the girls on the volley ball team, Minh-Thu Che, eighth grade, was hoping to win a few more games before the season was over, but now they will have to be content knowing they did their best.
The girls have learned some valuable skills and lessons throughout this season. Many of the returning players are glad to have had the chance to gain experience this year. Some can now serve over-hand because of their hard work.
Most of the girls are planning to play again next year and hope for a chance to make it to playoffs.
The eighth graders are eager about the opportunity to play on the varsity team next year.
