Boys’ varsity basketball finished the season with a winning record of 12-10 for the first time in seven years. In addition the boys secured a place at playoffs.

This is only the third time the boys’ varsity basketball has made it to playoffs in Bethel’s history.

Going to playoffs was such a big accomplishment for the boys varsity team that according to Nathan Jenkins, freshman, it was the highlight of the season. The team is proud of their hard work and believes that what brought them so far this season was practicing teamwork.

The team has had other highlights as well.  Abi Cadenas, freshman, said that for him the best memory was his scoring 20 points at a game.

Although the team enjoyed much success throughout the season, they still realize that there is much room for improvement.  When asked if he was satisfied with his plays, Kevin Trinh, sophomore said, “Not really. I know I could have done more.”

Looking ahead to next season the team knows that they may face some challenges as three of their key players, David Jenkins, Bryant Trinh and Tim Wright graduate.

Head Coach Joel Simonds  reflects on the past season and anticipates next season.

He said, “I think we can be better next season. We lose three seniors this year, which will be difficult to deal with, but our whole team is based on freshmen and sophomores so with a good off-season this summer, we can really start to become a good team.”

Despite the graduation of the team’s three seniors, the boys varsity team is extremely determined to work hard. They are still focused on the goal of making it to playoffs and eventually to the league championship next season.
