The Bethel Baptist Lady Warriors are victorious yet again, bringing their record to 7-3 with a win against the Crystal Cathedral Lions on Saturday Jan. 10 with the score of 47-17.

The Lady Warriors started out with their usual starting five of Angie Ruiz, Rita Batarse, Hannah Berg, Caree Morley, and Priscilla Lopez. Since this is a league game and their first game against this team, this was a must-win game. Also since this was Championship Banner Night the girls had to prove to the past players that this is still a championship team.

The game started out very slowly with many turnovers going both ways, but our Lady Warriors knew that they had many advantages with them so they kept going. Since the team knew that Ruiz and Batarse were the strongest girls in the game Lopez kept feeding them the ball and the girls made some nice post moves to give Lopez the assists. And even if the girls did not finish their lay-ups, they still had a chance to make free throws if they got fouled.

At the half, the girls were ahead but by only a few points. They knew that they had to make a run in the second half or the Lions would make the run. In the second half, the Bethel Baptist Warriors played with more strength, speed, and heart. Although the girls made the run and  got the win, Ruiz dislocated her shoulder and Batarse got some cramps and bruises towards the end of the game. Coach Joe Rousell said that the girls are fine, and the injuries are not long-term.

The girls will play Pioneer Baptist on Tuesday Jan. 13 for another league game. Although the game is away it is expected that the girls will dominate and win the game.
