Natural History Museum

The sixth grade class drove to the Natural History Museum in Los Angeles on Thursday, Nov. 7 to enrich their learning about the world’s history and science.

The students headed to the Natural History Museum at 8:30 along with a few chaperons and their teacher Mrs. Martinez.  When the class arrived at the museum, the tour guide led them see the insect zoo and the tortoises.  “The tortoises felt like rock,” said A. D., sixth grader.

Mrs. Martinez, 6th grade teacher, said, “This field trip was to help reinforce what we have learned about North American insects and some crustaceans.”  According to student G. he learned that the dinosaur bone becomes rock because it absorbs the dirt surrounding it.

After the tour, the students roamed around the museum with groups.   Student A. said, “I liked the gem room because of all the colors.” Her classmate J. also added that she liked going to see the birds because the group walked through the bridge and pond.

R. also discovered part of the movie Night of the Museum was filmed there.  Mrs. Martinez agreed that a lot of movies and photos were shot at the museum because of its artifacts.

The Natural History Museum has been historical place for many to visit.  According to its website, the museum has been a place for scientific research and stores much of the world’s cultural and natural history.
