Warriors Defend Home Court
By b.nguyen • Oct 17th, 2009 • Category: SportsThe Bethel Warriors and the New Harvest Warriors battle it out on the volleyball court Sept. 15 at Mile Square Gym.
Hannah Berg, Tracy Loi, Rita Batarse, Thalia Arredondo, Tammy Huynh, seniors, and Priscilla Lopez, sophomore, were the starters of the first game.
After a few unsettling moments, Bethel overcomes a rocky start and wins the first game 25-20.
New Harvest is already showing signs of fatigue as the teams prepare for the second game. The high-spirited Lady Warriors win once again, 7 points in the lead.
The third game starts off badly for Bethel, but Bethel manages to tie at 22, due to Arredondo’s consistent serves and the team’s overall effort. The score continues to teeter on every point.
With a powerful serve from Batarse, the ball hurtles through the air and lands on New Harvest’s side of the court. Bethel wins the game 28-26 and a perfect match.
Arredondo, outside hitter, gives her opinion of the match. She says, “I think over all, it was good, but we still have a lot to work on – our communication skills and giving it our best the whole time.”
Bethel’s first victory of the season on their home court greatly increases the team’s morale.
